Wargames of 1939 is now released!

I've uploaded the final version of "Wargames of 1939" to Google Play at last. By the time I publish this post, the game should already be downloadable from there. Amazon Appstore will follow in nearby days as soon as the Amazon review process has approved the app.

  1. Wargames of 1939. The units look great on the map!
    I enjoyed playing the demo, have a few suggestions if I may.
    The bunkers and train are very powerful, and gain experience quickly. While my artillery does one damage, they are doing 5 or 6. With no bombers to soften them up, you have to move units right next to them.
    By end of play, all your experienced units are wiped out by bunkers!
    I suggest that they can't be reinforced. They will still cause damage, but can be reasonably reduced and destroyed without losing your whole army.
    I also miss the skirmish attack from the ancient games. You could use it here, but refer to unit as being "pinned". Only infantry should have that option.

  2. I have played full version and enjoyed a lot. It is sad that after defeat of polish army there is no new conquest. CoUlf you add more maps and New missions?

  3. Good game but the Whermact was looking for the Luftwaffe over the Normandy beaches, not Poland. Should be able to use points to call in the Stukas. Who can tell me how to keep my supply lines open in the battle of Kobryn? I'm dying here!

  4. Fun game takes some thought! It would be nice to have a supply tutorial to explain how it works. I can usually keep supply open but occasionally I am baffled. Thanks for a fun game.

  5. Ok I've been playing a couple of days and I have a few gripes/suggestions. It isn't fair for the A/I player to reinforce and attack with the unit on the same turn. The human player cannot do this- so why allow thpe A/I? The armored trains are too powerful. In real life they were very easy to take out once you had closed on them. They can take out an entire unit every time they fire! That is just silly. You should reduce their power range and defensively strength. Or as has been suggested by others give the player some airstrike capability. Still a fun game.

    1. The trains are pretty awesome and can be taken out easily. Use at least 3 heavy armour that are two stripers and mass them just out of range. When theyre fully reinforced, move them all up to the train. Theyll survive a few hits and if reinforced will usually take the train out.

  6. Oops! There indeed seems to be a bug which allows AI to reinforce and attack (movement points were not cleared when AI reinforced...). Will release a bugfix in nearby days, and probably at same time reduce the armoured train strength which has been quite a common complaint so far among players.

  7. I like the armored trains and they should be a powerfull unit. But their defensively power should be reduced. In the war once infantry or armored units actually made contact they were easy to destroy. I'm looking forward to France, Afrika, Russia!

  8. Just released a bugfix release (version 1.1.3) on Google Play. Amazon appstore will follow in nearby days.

    That release fixes the reinforce+attack bug mentioned above, as well as reduces armoured trains and bunkers strength somewhat.

    Also threw into the release an experimental human-playable Polish campaign (same maps as with original, but roles reversed).

    Regarding Dave's comment "I'm looking forward to France", there's been actually now a Normandy '44 campaign cooking up :-) With landing boats, air units, paratroopers and stuff. It will be quite many weekends until I can get that finished, but hoping to get it released before summer...

    1. The reinforce+attack bug still seems to be in the game.

      Sometimes I think that the game lacks statistics. And the "hard" setting could be even harder.

  9. Congratulations on the latest upgrade for '1939'. My version is from the Amazon Appstore. Some notes on the play-as-Poland Beta version: the AI occasionally is still able to attack after reinforcing; the mission descriptions from about scenario 4 onward haven't been 'made Polish' ie the objectives are still German; new german units are generating as polish (but with the correct flag, so it's an aesthetic point rather than fatal to the gameplay!). Love the series and look forward to Normandy - but don't rush it!

  11. Hi, i really enjoy the game, despite the incredible lack of airpower or air defense capability. I have a question- i downloaded the full version, but after the battle of Lodz, the "continue game" button is greyed out. Is this some type of bug?
